Council Member Kristina Walker is joining in Neighborhood Council meetings to collect community input on expanding the City's Urban Forestry Program and advancing implementation of the Urban Forestry Management Plan. This is part of Phase One in the Urban Forestry resolution. She'll be at the following Neighborhood Council meetings in the coming month:

Green Tacoma Day and Arbor Day (Proclamation taking place at the October 7, 2025 Council Meeting)
The City, in collaboration with the Green Tacoma Partnership, is celebrating Green Tacoma Day and Arbor Day on October 11, 2025, from 9:00AM – 12:00PM. This year 11 organizations are hosting 13 different sites throughout the City and greater Tacoma area. Environmental Services is supporting four Green Tacoma Day sites:
• The City’s Open Space Program will be co-hosting two restoration work parties in collaboration with the Pierce Conservation District: one at the qÊ·iqÊ·É™lut Saltmarsh (1845 Port of Tacoma Rd) and one at Wapato Hills Park (S 62nd St. and S Wapato St.).
• The Urban Forestry Program is co-hosting Green Blocks: South End Neighborhood Tree Planting (Meet up at Mann Elementary School, 1002 S 52nd St, Tacoma, WA 98408) with the Tacoma Tree Foundation.
• Tidy-Up Tacoma is providing tools and bags for a litter pick-up at and in collaboration with the University of Washington Tacoma (meet up at UW T Giving Garden, 1953 Fawcett Ave, Tacoma, WA 98402).
This year, the Green Tacoma Partnership is celebrating 20 years of community stewardship, engagement, and education in Tacoma’s urban green spaces! On behalf of the various participating City Programs and the Green Tacoma Partnership, we would like to invite Council to attend any of the offered Green Tacoma Day events if they would like, especially those events located in their respective districts.
